Q & A

Q: Under what circumstances can works be placed in public or private collections?

A:

The Erik Brunetti Foundation for the Arts does not engage in commercial art sales. However, in accordance with nonprofit governance standards, the Foundation may—under narrowly defined circumstances—deaccession or place works to ensure their long-term preservation and scholarly relevance.

Deaccessioning occurs only when the work falls outside the Foundation’s core collecting scope, or placement in a recognized institution or steward is deemed materially beneficial to the historical record.

Placement may occur through: institutional acquisition, recognized private collection stewardship, or major auction houses and blue-chip brokers. All proceeds are restricted to mission-aligned activities: conservation, programming, research, and archival preservation. Formal inquiries must be submitted in writing to the curatorial office.

Q: Does the Foundation lend works to exhibitions or institutions?

A:

Yes. The Foundation considers requests from museums, archives, universities, and comparable public institutions. Loan approval is determined by curatorial merit, exhibition context, facility standards, conservation requirements, and security protocols.

Approved loans are governed by a written Loan Agreement and require condition reporting, transport under approved carriers, and compliance with institutional standards.

Q: Are archival materials available for scholarly research?

A:

Select archival holdings may be made available to qualified researchers, scholars, and curators.

Access is determined by: relevance of the proposed research, condition and sensitivity of materials, and

preservation requirements.

Appointments and requests must be submitted to archive@erikbrunettifoundation.org.

Q: How can institutions or collectors propose an acquisition or donation?

A:

Proposals for acquisition, donation, or placement are reviewed through a formal submission process administered by the Foundation’s curatorial and registrar offices.

Written proposals should include: a detailed description of the work, provenance documentation, images, and the proposed terms of transfer.

Eligible proposals may be referred to the Board of Trustees for consideration within the Foundation’s mission, collection priorities, and long-term stewardship obligations.

Q: Does the Foundation authenticate Brunetti works or FUCT-era materials?

A:

The Foundation provides authentication services for works attributed to Erik Brunetti and for historically significant FUCT-era materials. Authentication is conducted by the Foundation’s research and curatorial staff in accordance with evidentiary standards and may require in-person examination, provenance documentation, and comparative analysis. Requests should be directed to: authentications@erikbrunettifoundation.org

Q: Does the Foundation accept gifts, loans, or archival transfers?

A:

Yes. The Foundation considers gifts, long-term loans, and archival transfers that strengthen the historical record and broaden public understanding of Brunetti’s work. All contributions are reviewed for curatorial relevance, documentation integrity, and alignment with the Foundation’s mission.
